Candy canes are not only yummy, but they also make deliciously good decorations! Fill holiday tins and baskets with bundles of canes, wrapped in festive holiday ribbon. Add red and green tissue paper or paper shred to fill empty space!
Fill festive serving bowls with colorful ornaments for an easy and inexpensive holiday centerpiece! Mix and match several colors and styles or use one solid color, using ornaments in different shapes and sizes to accent your table!
Lighten up! Not just for the tree anymore, hang a string of festive holiday lights across window tops and door frames! Let the extra few lights hang down evenly on either side of the window or door and add a little extra sparkle to your holiday!
Purchase inexpensive holiday cards with images of winter wonderlands, seasonal snowmen – or anything else that gets you in the spirit! Pick up inexpensive picture frames and mat boards in festive colors and frame the cards to hang on the wall as holiday artwork!
Fill a breezeway or entrance way with piles of colorfully wrapped gifts! Wrap empty boxes (or fill them with sand or rocks and use them as door stoppers!) with festive gift wrap, bows and ribbons and stack them in a corner where they’ll greet incoming guests!
Decorate a side table or coffee table with a glittery arrangement of holiday candles! Fill a serving plate with candles of different shapes, sizes and colors. Whether you light them or just display them, this pleasing plate will brighten up any room in the house!
And don’t forget the outside of your ho-ho-home too! Set a large pair of old, black boots and a Santa’s hat on the porch as though the big guy stopped in for a visit! Hang strings of snowflake lights and fill a wooden crate or basket with piles of scarves and mittens for extra warmth!
Let music fill the air! Purchase several holiday music CDs and play them whenever you’re entertaining – or even just spending the afternoon at home! Sing along and really get in the spirit of the season!
For quick and inexpensive holiday party favors, purchase several cookie cutters in holiday shapes. Using red or green ribbon, tie your favorite cookie recipe to each cutter to hand out as sweet treats for visiting guests!
Keep a box of candy canes on hand to add holiday flavor to company’s cocoa! Not only are they perfect stirrers, but they add a kiss of mint to the chocolaty treat!
Instead of giving away your own plates and trying to collect them later, pick up several sturdy plastic serving plates for your annual holiday cookie deliveries! Load up the festive dishes with yummy treats and let lucky friends and family keep them! Or fill holiday gift bags, tins or >baskets and save your cookie plates for the big guy’s visit!
Fill a basket with holiday coloring books, storybooks, and simple stocking stuffers for tiny tots who might visit during the season! Visiting with the grown-ups can be a bore, so kids are sure to appreciate some festive fun to keep them entertained!
